Lod, Israel, 4th November 2019 – Massivit 3D Printing Technologies, the leading provider of large format 3D printing solutions, and STREETFIGHTER LA, renowned producers of high-quality wide body kits and auto parts, will showcase ground-breaking, rapid prototyping capabilities for large parts with the launch of the STREETHUNTER DESIGNS 2020 Supra MK5 Wide Body Kit at SEMA 2019. The new kit will be unveiled at the MagnaFlow booth at SEMA 2019, the world’s premier automotive specialty products trade event, taking place November 5-8th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The high-performance STREETHUNTER DESIGNS wide body kit was designed following a robust collaboration between auto performance tech pioneer, STREEETFIGHTER LA, car aficionado, TJ Hunt, and world class car designer and renderer, Jon Sibal.

Eager to find a large format, high-tech, and reliable solution that could rapidly deliver a high-quality wide body kit prototype, STREETFIGHTER LA and TJ Hunt turned to BCT Entertainment to leverage its large format Massivit 3D printer. Over 16 parts were 3D printed in just 64 hours on a Massivit 1800 Pro 3D printer and finished by SOS Customz, including all body panels, the front lip, and the dynamic rear wing. The large printing volume of the 3D d also enabled pieces such as the front lip and rear spoiler to be printed in a single part, up to 5 feet long.

A key factor in choosing Massivit 3D technology was its radical printing speed which allows for production of large, scale one prototypes, eradicating the need to assemble multiple small parts. This enables the workflow from design through CAD, 3D printing, and exhibition launch to be dramatically faster than any traditional automotive prototyping methods such as cardboard, clay, or foam. The availability of two print heads on Massivit 3D printing solutions allows for parallel production of two prototype parts and in terms of the design and development process, multiple iterations can be rapidly and easily created, meaning a significant reduction in time to market. Moreover, digital 3D printing enables the fabrication of accurate, symmetrical parts.

STREETFIGHTER LA’s owners/ co-founders, Lee and Dylan Coleman, were introduced to Massivit 3D via the SEMA Garage mid-year, and quickly built a collaborative relationship to develop fast prototype BMW performance parts. STREETFIGHTER LA’s CEO, Lee Coleman, commented, “We partnered with TJ Hunt in August 2019 on the 2020 Supra MK5 SEMA project and needed an ultra-fast solution to turn our mutual collaborative design with Jon Sibal into a reality. Massivit 3D and BCT Entertainment stepped up and brought their incredible 3D printing technology to the table to print this project and test install on the car in a little over a week’s time.” Coleman continued, “Massivit 3D and BCT are now deeply partnered with us on all future STREETHUNTER AND STREETFIGHTER LA high-performance designs which will be debuted after SEMA.”

TJ Hunt commented on the impetus behind this collaboration, “I didn’t want to make a kit that took over the shape of the car and made it look like something else. I really like kits that find a way to branch off the original body of the car and make it unique on its own. There are 16 parts in the kit and this was a crazy timeline that would not have been possible without the 3D printer.”

He continued: “3D printing is a great innovation and it is something that, I think, the industry is definitely going to be leaning towards in the future. Since Massivit 3D can print on such a large scale, they are really pushing the envelope on what the industry will start seeing here in the future. It is only a matter of time before we start seeing some really inspiring stuff beyond the wide body kit that was printed for this show.”

BCT Entertainment’s Director of 2D and 3D printing, JR Nichols, explained: “TJ Hunt and STREETFIGHTER LA are truly advancing the wide body kit industry by leveraging large format 3D printing, not only to generate the prototype parts, but also the tooling for reproduction. This could only have been possible with the Massivit 1800 Pro 3D printer that allowed us to print larger objects in one piece and often, two at a time. At BCT Entertainment, we are committed to delivering quality, on-time goods Additive Manufacturing is here and it’s progressing faster than any market sector in the automotive industry. Please stop by BCT with any questions at Booth #52206 in the Performance Pavilion.

Kevin Sykes, President of North America at Massivit 3D, added, “Massivit 3D is reimagining the process and speed of prototyping for the wide body part aftermarket and is excited to partner with STREETFIGHTER LA and TJ Hunt on this unique, game-changing endeavor. In a space where it’s all about time to market, Massivit 3D is making it possible for designers to go from concept to fabrication in literally days instead of weeks, at a fraction of the cost. As an added bonus, multiple iterations can also be tested before making the final mold for prototypes and kits, saving literally thousands in tooling costs, and dramatically reducing the time to market.”

This new, trailblazing approach to wide body prototyping will be unveiled in the Central Hall at SEMA 2019 at the MagnaFlow Booth at 11 am on Tuesday 5th November.
