CNC routers have been around since the 1950s, and they’ve done a great job in many ways. As technological advances were made, CNC machines were upgraded and updated as best as possible. The number of available linear and rotary axes increased. The range of materials that can be milled widened. But, CNC routers are still limited in what they can achieve. This is where large format 3D printing fills the gaps and offers many advantages, namely when there are complex geometry requirements, the model is very large, or customization is required.
