Lod, Israel, October 25th 2021 –
Massivit 3D Printing Technologies Ltd. www.massivit3D.com (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: MSVT), the leading provider of large-scale 3D printing systems, has been selected as the winner of the ACE Award for Composites Excellence in the category of Manufacturing: Equipment And Tooling Innovation. The award was granted for the Massivit 10000 additive manufacturing system for composites tooling and announced at the CAMX 2021 event in Dallas, USA.
The prestigious ACE awards recognize outstanding manufacturing innovation for equipment and tooling in composites manufacturing. Selected among 6 finalists by ACMA (American Composites Manufacturers Association), the Massivit 10000 is an additive manufacturing tooling system designed to overcome recognized bottlenecks associated with mold production for composite materials manufacturing. It was conceived to digitalize conventional tooling methods that are slow, expensive, cumbersome, wasteful, and require extensive manual skilled labor.
Based on Massivit 3D’s proprietary Cast-In-Motion (CIM) technology, the Massivit 10000 consolidates molding workflows by up to 80% – from several weeks down to a few days – and is designed to serve a range of industries including automotive, marine, rail, energy, and construction. The system leverages advanced dual-component thermoset materials that withstand high temperatures (Heat Deflection Temperature) and provide a low Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) that is equal to or better than aluminum. The Massivit 10000 enables direct casting of a mold (“direct female”), thereby eliminating the need to produce an initial master, and shortening conventional mold-production workflows from approximately 19 steps down to just four steps. In addition to significant time savings, the Massivit 10000 decreases manufacturing costs by 75% and reduces the required high-skilled manual labor by 90%. The Cast-In-Motion process is more sustainable than existing tooling methods, largely because it minimizes material waste at several different stages.
The Massivit 3D team received the ACE award at the CAMX show (the global go-to event for advancements in composites manufacturing) in Dallas TX, where the company is participating as part of its strategic expansion into the composite materials arena.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious industry award that recognizes the implication of digitalizing existing manufacturing processes in the composites market” said Massivit 3D’s CEO, Erez Zimerman. “Cast-In-Motion technology marks a milestone in the evolution of composites manufacturing. The ACE award, combined with the snowballing demand for the Massivit 10000, validate the high impact that this pioneering AM technology will have on the composite materials market.”
